Mr. Ali Hassan Khan is the Head of Product Development at Al Meezan Investment. He also oversees all aspects of Shariah Compliance within the organization as it relates to it, as per the dictates of the Shariah Advisor and the guidance extended from the Shariah Advisory team.
Ali has an experience, spanning over 15 years, exclusively within the domain of Product Development in the Investment Management industry of Pakistan. Majority of his learning and experience was developed with Al Meezan, within the realm of Shariah Compliance and Islamic Capital markets. Prior to joining Al Meezan, he was associated with UBL Fund Managers Ltd.
At Al Meezan, Ali focuses primarily on new product initiatives, product life-cycle management and shariah compliance. He has to his credit new product concepts and ideas that have been successfully translated from concept generation to eventual realization. He is credited with launching several first-to-the-market products which have tended to set the tone for the entire industry. He brings with him the positive mentality of a ‘doer’, which is essential for personnel entrusted with the role of, either launching new products against searing odds or charged with finding effective solutions to various business problems. He has a strong passion for creativity, development, learning, sustainability, Islamic-values and process re-engineering. He has used his aspiration and professional growth, towards creating sustainable value for the company, all within the ambit of shariah.
Another important role that Ali has, is to manage the alternative investment segment of the company, which currently include Commodity Funds and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). He is therefore, also the Fund Manager of Meezan Gold Fund (MGF), Meezan Tahaffuz Pension Fund – Gold Sub Fund (MTPF-GSF) and Meezan Pakistan Exchange Traded Fund (MP ETF).
Ali has completed his MBA and BBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi, majoring in Finance. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) from the CFA Institute, USA and also holds the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), USA amongst his academic qualifications.
